Will Cap & Trade make “Green Energy” attractive to consumers ?

Question by O’Really: Will Cap & Trade make “Green Energy” attractive to consumers ?
Since they’ll be the “traders” in this case prices might even go down.
EDIT…can anyone tell me about Green Mountain Energy ?
ozman641…South Texas from Corpus Christi to the border will get most of it’s power from wind in the next year or two.

Can’t tell you aboutgreen mountain…

But empirical examples from Europe and prior U.S. cap’n’trade operations (including SO2 in the 1990s) show that it will make pollution a choice in consuming and production and increase ‘greener’ choices by both consumers and producers in order to lower costs.

What are the pros and cons of wind energy?

Question by MaryCheneysAccessory: What are the pros and cons of wind energy?
There are alot of wind farms going up in my area. The biggest con that I see from these generators is that they pollute the beauty of our mountain ridges here in Western Pennsylvania. Sure, I am all for energy independence, but I think we rush to solutions in this country. What are your thoughts?

We have those in Texas. I guess it depends on how close you live to them. At least they’re quiet ! We need to use solar energy too. Probably a lot less land needed to “capture” it. There are some windmills out around Galveston. They are actually pretty out there on the beach !

Is Nevada still the leading state in green energy? Does the state us nuclear power at all?

Question by Spikey lover: Is Nevada still the leading state in green energy? Does the state us nuclear power at all?
I can’t seem to find any websites that refer to Nevada’s main power source. I’m pretty sure that Nevada doesn’t use nuclear power at all. I need the websites you get your info off of because I’m doing this for my final English essay of the semester.

Nevada’s main power source is probably hydroelectricity from Hoover Dam.

I don’t know if the state has nuclear power plants, but it does host the biggest nuclear waste dump in the country at Yucca Mountain. Not too green, in my opinion.

It is not cost efficient for the general house hold on the average budget at this point and time.
I personally was thinking about starting with my inside lighting.
It would not save me money on my electricity bill by just making the lighting solar. I would have to knock out the big appliances like the refrigerator or a/c units to make a difference.
The average house hold does not have the money to make these significant changes at this point and time.
The best people can do is conserve more by recycling, using energy saving modes, etc.
I do know of someone that has made a difference on heating water by using solar. Of course the size of panels they have are extremely costly (1000.00 a panel). But they saved on their gas bill by cutting out the water heater.
But the average house hold does not have that extra couple of grand to spend on panels.
Lower the pricing of equipment needed to go green and more people will partake in going green.

Has anyone used Stream Energy in Texas?

Question by : Has anyone used Stream Energy in Texas?
I am currently using Green Mountain Energy Company, but their customer service is crap and they have lied to me about several different things. So, I am searching for a new company and a couple of people I know use Stream Energy and like it, but I’d like to know if any of you have used it aswell and what you think of the company. Thanks!

why would you even consider such things?? Your power company owns the lines to your home, anyone else you buy from still has to pay your local power company to get power to you. So both companies get a profit from delivering power to you.
