What’s a good electricity company in Houston that offers good rates and services?

Question by Grace M-T: What’s a good electricity company in Houston that offers good rates and services?
I currently have Reliant but I’m wondering if I could get better rates…thanks for the tips. 🙂

Best answer:

Answer by hghjsln
YES THERE ARE CHEAPER RATES. I USE AMIGO AND SAVE MONEY-IT WAS 20 PER CENT SAVINGS WHEN I CHANGED FROM RELIANT. NOT SURE WHAT IT IS NOW. TO COMPARE ALL THE COMPANIES RATES, GO TO THE WEBSITE ——http://www.powertochoose.org. IT IS NOT SO SIMPLE SINCE YOU MAY SELECT THE CHEAPEST BUT THEY HAVE A CONDITION YOU MAY NOT WANT, SUCH AS 1 YEAR SUBSCRIPTION, ECT. I GET A LOT OF MAIL FROM TXU BUT WHEN I COMPARED IT A FEW MONTHS AGO I DECIDED AGAINST CHANGING. I DON’T REMEMBER THE REASON, NOW.

Q&A: What company do you find cheapest for electricity in the houston area since energy co’s are deregulated?

Question by tamarah r: What company do you find cheapest for electricity in the houston area since energy co’s are deregulated?
I’m tired of my electricity bills raping me. Does anyone have advice of what company made a difference in their bill? I have txu energy–the last bill was a bit shy of $ 500.00; my katy home unfortunately has cathedral ceilings and is 3200 sq. ft. Yes, it’s my first home and I never paid electric bills before, so i didn’t know what i was getting into. Any advice would be much appreciated. Thank you for your time =)

Does Houston gets its power from the nuclear power plant in bay city?

Question by Brady: Does Houston gets its power from the nuclear power plant in bay city?
I live west of houston and use TXU energy.

Best answer:

Answer by T.J.
Houston power comes from a many sources. Some of it from the Bay City nuclear plant, but the majority is from natural gas fired generators. Power in the houston area is delivered to your home by Centerpoint Energy. TXU and a variety of other companies sell the power at different rates, but it all comes from the Centerpoint Energy power grid.

Has anyone used Champion Energy Services for electricity in Houston? Appreciate your reviews?

Question by butrfly: Has anyone used Champion Energy Services for electricity in Houston? Appreciate your reviews?
I cannot find any review about this company online so far. If you’ve used the service, please let me know if you have any concerns or feedbacks. I’m consider to switch to their service since the rate is much lower than Reliant Energy and TXU.

I have not seen the co. you mention, but I switched to Dynowatt and it is a LOT cheaper than what I had. If you commit to 2 yrs you can lock in a low rate for 2 yrs – less than 16 cents a KWH. When I was shopping rates, Dynowatt was cheaper than TXU for sure.

Can you give me a review of Tara Energy? Or can you recommend another affordable Electric Company in Houston?

Question by Seila: Can you give me a review of Tara Energy? Or can you recommend another affordable Electric Company in Houston?
I’m looking at different Electric companies in the Houston area and came across Tara Energy. They seem cheaper than any Reliant plan, but would like to know if they are a good company or if they just trick you into a cheap rate and then bump it up once you’re in. Or what about their customer service?

Any info will be appreciated. Please let me know if you found a different company that you like/recommend.
Or who should I stay away from too?!?!

Thanks!

Most everything is cheaper than Reliant.

Go to the Power to Choose site to compare plans.

I use Gexa and I like them, but that’s me.
